Shop For a Cause at The Hive: To Benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
I can say with confidence I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been touched by cancer. I would go as far to say that everyone has someone very close to them who has battled cancer. Maybe it’s a parent, grandparent, sibling, or close friend. It isn’t even a two-degrees-of-separation for anyone.
When our young associate at the store Emily Montgomery texted me about a fundraising effort for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation that she was helping orchestrate, I knew The Shoe Hive and The Hive had to get involved. When she mentioned that Charlotte Torborg was also part of the team I knew we had to host some kind of event at the stores.
I have known both of these young women since they were little. I met Emily when she was in kindergarten with my daughter at Grace Episcopal School. I met Charlotte literally when she was born. I have always been impressed by both girls. Since I know their moms; I know why they are such wonderful people. They are both kind, funny, smart and mature beyond their years. You might have met Emily when you shop at the store, she’s worked with us since she was a sophomore.
Emily and Charlotte both attended St. Stephens/St. Agnes School and have joined forces with a group of girls to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Their goal is ambitious for a group of high schoolers to raise: $60,000, to be exact. But I have always liked people who swing for the fences. I tend to live by that motto myself. To help them achieve that goal we are hosting a fundraiser at The Hive on Thursday, February 27 from 4pm to 7pm. We will donate 20 percent of all sales from the evening to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
We have so many great new spring arrivals and I know people are getting ready for travel for Spring Break so it’s the perfect time. We will have cocktails and nibbles, and of course great company. Stop in and meet Charlotte and Emily and help support these amazing young women.
