Small Business Saturday in Old Town: Gift With Purchase
I know all of our inboxes and Instagram feeds are full of Black Friday offers. I’ve also been sending them out from my stores and next week you will read about it in Stylebook. But before we focus on “Plaid Friday” as we local business owners like to call it, I wanted to shine a light on Small Business Saturday, too.
Small Business Saturday happens the day after Black Friday. It was actually started by American Express as a way to help the brick and mortar community. Amex encouraged its card holders to “Shop Small” after the rush of Black Friday. Since Alexandria is what I consider the best collection of independent retailers around, I wanted to make sure we didn’t let Small Business Saturday pass us by! It’s easy to get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of Plaid Friday and forget a day that is really about the small business community, which I love being a part of!
This Small Business Saturday, a group of over a dozen stores have collaborated to do a day of gifts with purchase. Stop in, shop and get a little gift from us. Just a thank you for shopping small this holiday season and helping us keep the doors to our shops open another year!
