I’m about to say something radical and even those who know me best will be surprised: I need to throw out most of my wardrobe.

I was honest with myself when I cleaned out my closet each season. I would just keep all the Tibi and get rid of most other items besides some Allude sweaters, Ulla skirts and Citizens of Humanity denim. It isn’t that I don’t love other brands – I do. But when it comes to getting dressed, I feel the most like myself in Tibi. Since Covid, the Tibi team has taken to social media to really help us understand how to get dressed in a way that makes us feel like us. I can’t tell you how many times I have bought beautiful things and they just sit in my closet. I keep them, even though when I look at them I just get annoyed or angry at the money I wasted. I can imagine many other people feeling the same way. I mean, I own a store! I should be able to figure this out!

Tibi has really helped me conquer this problem and minimize my mistakes. They have put into words what I couldn’t before. Why I feel like myself in some things and not in others.

They aren’t just trying to sell their clothes. Oftentimes they show pieces from other brands.  They want to help consumers make smart decisions and really figure out what works for them. Like the kids say, they want to help you figure out “your vibe.”

The first pieces that I purchased from Tibi were from their fundamentals collection. They were the Stella Cargo in white nylon and the Calder jogger in black. I think it was even Covid when they arrived. Despite being inside perpetually, I still wore them both. When the world opened up, I wore them all the time. I still have them five years later. Now I just have the same style in different variations. These are what I grab when I don’t know what to wear, or have time to think about it.

Each season they launch a fundamentals collection, changing up colors and fabrics and sometimes having an item from a former collection “graduate” into the fundamentals collection. Kind of like making it into the hall of fame in baseball. Basically means these pieces are batting at least .300. The Calder and the Stella are still in the collection. Along with the newly anointed Winslow and the Sid Jean. I mean what would I do without the Sid? Of course there are more items in the collection but these are some of our favorites.

I asked Megan Brown to help model these fundamentals for The Hive since the Stella Cargo in white was one of her first Tibi purchases as well. I think she doubted me, but now she texts every time she wears them to say how much she loves them. I had to have her model one item not from fundamentals that I am confident will earn its spot soon: the Twill Cropped Pleated Pant. I have been doing this a long time and I know how hard it is to find a pleated pant that’s flattering. These are and they are so comfortable. They also have the perfect amount of crop, there is nothing worse than a pant that is too cropped and hits in a weird place.

Of course, Megan makes everything good. I promise if you think you are not a Tibi person, which I hear from customers, these are the pieces I know will make you love the brand as much as I do!
