The Hive’s 24th Anniversary: A Weekend Celebration

What a year it has been! I feel like we are finally getting our sea legs at the store after a really busy fall. With July and August being so slow in the D.C. region, autumn always hits us full force.

We have new faces, a new point-of-sale system, lots of events, and we are finally completing our trunk show series with not just one great trunk show, but two great trunk shows for our anniversary weekend.

This Thursday, October 22, we are kicking off our anniversary weekend with a ton of great events. There are so many events that it can be a bit confusing; I am even having a hard time keeping track!

First off, as a thank-you to all of you for supporting us for all these years, we are having a sale. The entire store and website are 20 percent off through the weekend.

Then, starting Thursday, we are also hosting two trunk shows: Citizens of Humanity and FREDA SALVADOR. To help kick things off, everyone’s favorite rep, Griffin, will be here from Citizens of Humanity. The shows run all weekend, and we will have a special selection of items from both brands that are only here for the weekend.

While Griffin is here helping us celebrate, we have a special treat for you! Cafe Flores will be in the store with their specialty lattes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come sip and shop with us!

Then, on Saturday, local artist Julianne Woehrle will be in the store from 12 to 4 p.m. to do custom fashion sketches. Stop in and have her draw a picture of you in your favorite look!

As you can see, it will be a great weekend. We are so grateful to have been able to keep our doors open for 24 years, and we know we couldn’t do it without the support of our wonderful community. There are so many places to shop, and we are grateful that you continue to choose The Shoe Hive and The Hive.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
