The One Summer Dress We Had to Order

I just said we don’t order summer dresses for our summer delivery. I know—that sentence doesn’t make much sense. But our semi-annual sale happens in June, and trying to sell a sundress at full price during peak summer never really works.

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. Sometimes at market, we come across a dress that’s simply too good to pass up.

That’s exactly what happened when I saw the Janis Midi Dress in Lime and Dove by Veronica Beard. In my opinion, it’s the perfect summer dress. The silhouette is so flattering, and the fabric makes it effortlessly versatile. I also love that it isn’t white. So many beautiful summer dresses are, but then they’re off-limits for weddings—one of the top reasons people are looking for a new dress in the first place.

This one works beautifully for a daytime or early evening wedding, but also transitions seamlessly for a dinner out or sightseeing on vacation in a fabulous city. It really is the perfect summer dress, so we had to order it.

We figured there have to be at least five people out there who need it—and five is all we have. Come see us at The Hive is one of them is you.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
