Krewe: For the Sunglasses’ Girl

We’ve got another event and we should call this "another Shannon event." Freda, her last event, was a smashing success so I hope our Krewe event continues her success.

Shannon is a sunglasses’ girl. I have learned over the last 20 years that some people just love to purchase sunglasses. I was aware that some people have a "shoe problem,” or a "purse issue,” but this was new to me. I am not confident with this number, but I think Shannon has more than 20 pairs. I could be exaggerating but probably not…

I was never a huge sunglasses’ girl until we started carrying Krewe, an all-American company started in New Orleans. We have carried them for almost a decade now – way before there were storefronts and popups of Krewe. If any brand could cause me to have a sunglasses addiction, this is the one. Their shapes and color are like no other brand out there. They make custom acetate frames and in my opinion that is what makes them unique. Of course they have black and tortoise options, but it’s the bright colors and patterns that draw most people to them.

Next week we are hosting our annual Krewe trunk show. It’s a great way to kick off summer at The Shoe Hive at 127 S. Fairfax Street. All Krewe frames will be 20 percent off, and we can place special orders. We will also have a rep from Krewe with us on Friday, June 14.

None of us can rival Shannon’s collection, but we’re creeping towards her—in pairs purchased. We decided to share our picks for the event. I must admit, it will be hard to just buy one pair. Check them out:

Owner | The Hive, The Shoe Hive, and Yellow Jacket

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
