The Next Big Thing (Again)
Sometimes I just luck out and find the next big thing before it becomes the next big thing. It happened back in the day with Tory Burch and the Reva flat, then again with Hunter rain boots. Those two brands got me through the 2008 recession. Later it was Golden Goose and Veja that carried me through Covid.
When you catch a brand at the right time—early enough to stand out but before it explodes—it makes all the difference. Once something really takes off, designers usually tighten up distribution. I can’t tell you how many store owners asked me for my Golden Goose or Veja contacts… until my brand reps basically told me to stop sharing.
And now? It’s happening again—with Autry.
We’ve carried Autry for over a year, and with every delivery, its popularity keeps climbing. (By the way, if you’re wondering what’s next, Back 70 is on our radar.)
Here’s the secret with sneakers: what’s huge in Europe almost always hits big in the U.S., just a couple of years later.
We just unpacked our latest shipment of Autry, and it is really good.
We have a brand-new style called the Windspin, and I’m calling it now—it’s going to be a top seller. I love texture in a shoe, and this one delivers: black pony hair, brown suede with a touch of metallic, and my personal favorite—a shiny, futuristic silver. The slimmer sole feels a little more fashion-forward and makes it easy to pair with dresses and skirts.
We also restocked two proven favorites, the Reelwind and the Medalist, in fresh new colors and fabric combos.
Come check out the newest Autry arrivals at The Shoe Hive/The Hive while they’re still here, I have a feeling they won’t last long.
