We’re Having A Party
Sometimes you have to admit when you are wrong, and when I thought it would be so easy to just open a men's store and make it work, I was wrong. It is an entirely different ball game than women's retail. But I am learning and hoping I will eventually figure this all out.
Since we popped up in November, the Yellow Jacket store looks completely different. Thanks to the help of Ivy Lane Living. You won't even recognize the place; it looks like a totally different store, which is exactly what we wanted. The transformation (which they pulled off in two weeks) is remarkable.
You will also notice that not only does the space look different, but the racks do as well. We have so much great inventory right now. We have the same lines we had in fall - like Onward Reserve, tasc Performance, johnnie-0, Paige Denim, and AG Denim. But we have added so many more great brands like Vince, Rag & Bone, Mizzen+Main, James Perse, turtleson, and my personal favorite, Sid Mashburn.
Look for more on Sid Mashburn next week, but mark your calendar for our grand opening celebration (we are open already but wanted to have a party to make it official) on April 21 and April 22, when Sid and his team will be in store for custom men's tailoring. You can order suiting, shirts, sport coats, and more, or just have us take your custom measurements so we have them on file.
Yellow Jacket isn't just limited to clothes; we have shoes from Blundstone and Hari Mari, wallets from Bosca and Secrid, boxers and socks from Stance and Saxx, sunglasses from Schwood, belts from W. Kleinberg, and shaving products from St. James of London. Oh, and how can I forget Virginia peanuts? We have all sorts of flavors, and some you can snack on while you shop.
We really hope you will stop by for our big launch but shop before as well. We are open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. We even talked Chris Kidd into coming back to work for us at Yellow Jacket - loyal Shoe Hivers will remember him.
Most importantly, I hope you will share the news of Yellow Jacket's arrival with your male friends. It has been decades since our town had this kind of men's ready-to-wear shop. I know plenty of men are like my husband and set in a pattern of shopping in other cities when they travel for work or just waiting on wives to buy things through the Internet. We hope all those shoppers will feel at home in Yellow Jacket and rely on us for the things they need to stay looking sharp.
