Quick Fixes for 3 Common Problems

We’ve all been there. We bought an item and within a short time, we’ve done something that renders it useless. Does that mean we have to buy another one right away? Maybe not. Eyeliner pens are wonderful. They make applying liquid liner so much easier than the former free-form method. But when you reach into your drawer and pull the pen out, the tip is dry. These pens need the liquid to flow to them to keep the tip moist, but most of us put them in our drawers and leave them lying on their sides. In order to revitalize a pen that has gone dry before its time, put a bit of water in a bowl.  Gently dip the tip of the pen in the water to wet for a few seconds. Roll the tip on a paper towel to soak up excess water and then replace the cap. Place the pen tip down in a cup overnight. This should restore it to its former glory. Keep all your pens in a cup with the tip down to prevent them from prematurely drying out.

Whoops, you forgot to replace the cap and now that perfectly good eyeliner or lip pencil has dried out and become hard. Time to toss? Maybe not. Before you reconcile it to the waste bin, try heating the tip with a hairdryer for ten seconds. You may just bring it back to life and get a nice soft line. The same can be true of a pencil you bought that was just too hard in the first place.

You haven’t even left the house and your hair is frizzy right after blow drying. Your hair needs to have the moisture wicked out as soon as possible. The longer your hair is wet, the more the hair cuticle swells open, making it more prone to damage and as it air dries it frizzes. So once out of the shower, the best option is to ring out the excess water and use a microfiber towel or turban to dry the hair more efficiently and gently. Use this when air drying or before turning to the hairdryer by getting the hair dry naturally so less heat is necessary to finish the job.
