Let’s Get This Holiday Season Started

I can’t believe it is almost Thanksgiving! It has been such a beautiful fall, and it really didn’t feel like November until we turned the clocks back a few weeks ago. But I looked at the calendar and realized it was, in fact, here, and we better get to telling everyone what we are going to be doing! So, what is happening for Plaid Friday, the local twist on Black Friday?

Well, we are sticking with what we have been doing the last 12 years and opening our doors at 6am! It is really a fun morning, and despite the lack of sleep, we actually enjoy working that day. The Shoe Hive and The Hive will both open at 6am, and the entire stores will be 30 percent off, then we move to 20 percent off from 8am to 10am, and 10 percent the rest of the day.

If after you arrive, the stores seem too crowded for your comfort level, we will give you a pass for the time frame you came by, and you can come back later that day to get the discount that corresponds with your arrival - but you have to come back Friday. As far as Yellow Jacket, our new men’s store, we are opening the doors at 8am and we will do 30 percent off the first two hours, 20 percent off 10am to 12pm, and 10 percent off the rest of the day as well.

Of course, the holiday weekend doesn’t end with Plaid Friday. We continue our celebration with Small Business Saturday. If you have ever wondered how Small Business Saturday came about, it was actually started by American Express to help support the small brick-and-mortar community. With so much media focus on Black Friday and the big box stores, and Cyber Monday’s spotlight on online retailers, they didn’t want shoppers to forget about the little guys - us! We decided that we didn’t want to not support other small businesses as well, so for the second year in a row we are bringing some creators and small business owners to our store for the day. It’s our own little pop-up called The Courtyard of Creators. You will recognize 3 Shades of Chic and Best Life Organics, and two new creators are joining us: Eight Royale (you have probably met her at the warehouse sale) and Soultry.

So mark your calendars, set your alarms, and let’s get this holiday season started! If you can’t make it into the store either day, we will be doing Cyber Monday as well. That is right, for 24 hours starting at midnight on Monday, November 29, use the code Cyber20 and receive 20 percent off your entire purchase online.
