Monday Musings

When does a pantsuit become a power suit? Styles this season are all about taking up space. Maybe you feel lost in all that fabric, or maybe you love it. For me, it's most definitely love. I don’t have to shrink my curves or hide my mom bod. I can be me, breathe easy, and feel comfortable all while making my personal style statement. It’s no longer about layering over shapewear and squeezing into something slinky. Instead, it’s about unleashing your power and stepping into your potential. That’s what makes it a power suit. So, ladies, lean into your power and if you’re unsure about where to start, read on…

Britt: Power posing. Trust me, it works. I often practice a confident pose before going into a meeting or taking an important call, or even just to give myself a little boost of confidence. It's all about adopting a confident posture by standing tall with my feet planted firmly on the ground and placing my hands on my hips or even outstretched above me. It may look silly but inside it increases my confidence and feeling of power within myself! Go ahead, stand up, and give it try!

Elizabeth: Clothes are powerful. You can put something on, and it almost feels like armor or it at least can give you the confidence to think you can take on the world. For me, nothing does this more than a suit. Especially a pantsuit. I am just a sucker for a great suit. Any color, any style and they are more popular than ever. And not just for the office. Amy: When I think about power and presence, I think about the people who show up and stand up for themselves and for equality in a world that is designed to make the fight for equality quite challenging. Women's rights come to mind as we celebrate Women's History Month, but this applies to every marginalized group. The fight for equality is not simply for the group being marginalized. It's for everyone. We should all care deeply about what is happening, not only in our immediate community but everywhere. We Should All Be Feminists is a guided journal that perfectly exemplifies this mindset. Feminism is for everyone. Get into it.

Adrien: When it comes to our wellness, there is power in a positive mindset and self-confidence. It’s important to address our negative mindsets (calorie restriction, punishment-style cardio, etc.) because these "conventional wisdoms" can then manifest into core beliefs that take away our joy and leave us feeling like we can’t achieve our goals. Ultimately, negative core beliefs can steal the benefits of quality movement from our lives. A positive movement mindset can have a profound effect on our wellness and even make movement a joyful moment in our days.
