AGL Styled: 4 Shoes, 8 Ways

I have learned a lot about how people shop over the last 20 years. When it comes to shoes, people often buy on impulse– especially when it’s sale time. I have chuckled to myself many times when someone walks up to the cash register with three very different size shoes. At the right price, people make it fit. Back in the days when the Hysteria boutique was next door, we would both start our sales the same day, and it was the one day of the year when The Shoe Hive was busier than Hysteria. There’s just something about a shoe sale that gets people motivated.

That being said, there is nothing worse than buying a pair of shoes (or clothes for that matter) and then not wearing them. I always say the best thing I can hear as a shopkeeper is “I wore those shoes all the time.” When I hear the opposite it bums me out.

The reason I say all this is we are hosting our AGL trunk show this weekend and I can say with confidence that these are the shoes our clients purchase and subsequently wear all the time. There isn’t a pair that we have on the shelves right now that won’t work different ways in your wardrobe. They are all versatile and comfortable. It’s hard for me to pick which shoes I want to buy this season. I want them all, but of course I have to show some restraint.

I asked Madeline to show us how we can wear some of our AGL shoes in different ways. Come in to The Shoe Hive this weekend and shop our selection along with some styles they sent just for the trunk show. The event starts Thursday, February 29 and ends Sunday March 3. The best part, all AGL are 20 percent off!

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
