We just got back from a buying trip in NYC and it reconfirmed my love for Ulla Johnson. It isn’t just about the clothes; it’s also the actual space, which looks like it could be featured in Architectural Digest. There are fresh flowers everywhere and it smells amazing. It is, however, always packed and a little chaotic. When you visit, you find a flurry of people, and floral dresses are literally flying everywhere. But I am always at ease when I see Halima, our account executive.

Annette and I joke that she is almost out of a movie. You know how there seems to always be that scene in a Disney movie where the birds are flying around the princess, who might not even know she is a princess? And there is a light around them that just makes you feel at ease? Well, that’s Halima. She is our Ulla princess or fairy godmother. She just has a calmness and kindness about her. 

When you get to work with someone like Halima, it makes you love the brand even more. She is also the reason we are able to host Ulla Johnson trunk shows. Each year she helps us grow our trunk show and this year she really went to bat for us. Nobody has ever sent us as much inventory for a trunk show as we will have for this one. Not only is she sending beautiful floral dresses and shirts, she is also sending some of their more fashion-forward pieces that I am always a little terrified to place. She is even sending some of their purses and jewelry that everyone seems to love. 

It’s hard to choose what pieces I love the most this season. I am always a sucker for a set so I love the Roe Skirt and Marlis top in Citron, and also the Rhodes Skirt and Rumi top in my favorite shade of blue. But I must say: the winner of the season is the Rhodes Skirt and the Twyla vest. These were both on most of our personal orders. Needless to say, between our spring selection and what Ulla Johnson sent us for the event, there is something for everyone. See a preview with this Lookbook:
