As someone who loves a great shirt and believes you can’t go wrong with classic pieces, TWP really checked all the boxes when I was looking fora brand to add to The Hive. I also love to support woman-owned brands and I love that it is all made in NYC from Italian fabrics.

Returning from vacation on January 4, I realized I had to get my act together and start planning the Alexandria Walkable Warehouse Sale. This is the 21st year of the sale – is that even possible? The 21st Annual Alexandria Boutique Warehouse Sale returns in a walkable format once again this year! This popular longest-running winter affair will take place over two days the weekend of February 1 and 2, 2025 throughout Old Town.

As you shop the sale section of The Hive, some folks want to know: What’s not on sale? What’s new? Well, we have lots of resortwear in the store. We still have boxes coming in every day, full of new pieces, so we promise there will, for the near future, always be some really new items.

It’s that time of year when all the stores are going on sale. It used to be the day after Christmas was the big day for sales, but now it seems like they start earlier and earlier. And since the holiday season has now passed, it’s time for some more markdowns. The more you shop the more you save starting Friday, January 3rd through Sunday, January 12th.

I am always on the search for the perfect t-shirt. It has to be both the right thickness and the right cut. My favorite part of opening presents is opening my stocking. I thought I would share how I checked a long list of people of all ages off my list—all in Old Town.

When I first walked into Reza Mohammadi’s tailored clothing shop, BARG Garments on 108 N. Alfred Street, I felt like I was visiting a friend’s home. He was very polite, always smiling and brought me a cup of tea and some chocolates when we sat down to chat. He had emailed me a few weeks earlier, curious to know more about the small business community in Alexandria.

What I know from years and years of costume design - is that accessories and beauty hold such a magical power to transform an outfit. We are incredibly grateful for the women in our lives – and appreciate every minute we get to spend with them while they are already juggling so many things! Giving them an unexpected, thoughtful present is just one way to share our love this holiday season.
