Restaurant Report: Pendleton Carryout Co.

We get it — this morning was crazy. You were so busy getting everything and everyone together that you didn’t pack a lunch. Not to fear! That means it’s a great day to try Pendleton Carryout Co., Old Town’s newest lunch destination. A self-described “'test market' opportunity” for various emerging food brands and concepts, this new hot spot offers three to four different food concepts on rotation for carry-out or delivery. With pretty floral wallpaper and a heartily purple floor, this place is Insta-worthy before you even get to the food. It’s located off of King Street on a block with few businesses, making it a destination with easy parking where you can get in and out and back to work quickly. The hard part with a comparatively off-beat location like this is getting people in the door, but business has been great so far, and once customers try the current offerings, they’ll want to come right back.Stop in today for pizza, dumplings, and macarons, or some eclectic combination of the three. Laoban Dumplings is dishing up Ginger Chicken, Pork Cilantro, and Livin’ on the Vedge dumplings, served with your choice of two sauces, as well as Melon Salad with watermelon, mint, rice vinegar, and sea salt.At the same time, the oven is firing up pizza from Sliced, offered by the ounce. You can build your own whole pies, or try the Burrata with green-garlic sauce, Spicy Chorizo, Detroit Style with mozzarella, Veggie with roasted corn and red pepper, or your classic Cheese and Pepperoni. Gluten free? Sliced also offers gluten-free cauliflower crust upon request. Each food concept will be on rotation for about three to four weeks. We were definitely pleased with these choices, but also can’t wait to see what concepts are up next!
