Five Fun Things

What are you into lately? Here are five fun things I’m obsessing over this month...

1

Prior to this past month I had never dabbled in the world of self-tanner. I’m pale and totally fine with that and never felt the urge to bronze things up. But, I have recently noticed I have very blue veins on my shins and you know what? That’s not cute. So, I stopped by Bellacara and Angela walked me through her ample bronzer selection, recommending in the end Vita Liberata’s Fabulous Self-Tanning Gradual Lotion. I chose it for its subtle, fool-proof tone (it doesn’t get dark enough to really mess things up) and it completely hit the nail on the head for what I needed: not necessarily a tan tone, but also not transparent-blue like my legs naturally are. Better still, it doesn’t smell like self-tanner.

Three (maybe four?) years after I dropped this jade bangle on our bathroom floor and broke it into four pieces, my husband Tim finally fixed it and I love it even more than I did before. He added the gold sleeves to disguise the cracks and they elevate the bangle to a whole new level. This is my new never-take-off piece.

I visit Adiam at Sarah Akram Skincare once a month for a facial and one thing that I love about her is she never pushes products on me while I’m in her chair. But, two sessions ago she handed me some samples of the Biologique Recherche Placenta Cream and after a single use, I saw results. This stuff is amazing -- so much so that I have convinced myself to get over squeamish name (and odd smell). I have been using it daily ever since and swear by it.

Anyone who has visited my house knows that I’m into plants. Maybe it’s the millennial in me but I just love surrounding myself with ample greenery. This past week, Helen Olivia brought over a collection of wonderful potted plants for our new Seedling Collective studio and I’m loving how they bring such sweet life into the room. Better still: they included little care cards for each plant so if you buy one, you’ll know exactly how to make them happy.

I might be a bit late to the game but I’m starting the BBC series Killing Eve this week and I haven’t looked forward to settling into a new series like this in a long, long time. I don’t watch a lot of TV overall and can only handle a single series at a time, so I’m looking forward to digging into this female-led, subtly cool drama all summer long. [Editor's note: don't miss Alicia's post on the amazing fashion on the show.]
