The New Neutral

An inspection of my closet would uncover convincing evidence that I live life dressed in neutrals. I love color, but when it comes down to getting dressed I always grab a basic. White, cream, navy, and black are the basic consistency of my wardrobe, with a little celebratory metallic for good measure. But lately, a new neutral has been earning increasing space in my closet and on the shelves at The Hive and even The Shoe Hive: army green. The army green color logically lends itself to pieces that are more military-inspired looks, which is another big trend for spring collections, especially jackets and cargo pants. These over-sized jackets are perfect for spring, and cargos are a nice option to have instead of denim for a change. The army green color trend and military-inspired clothing pieces has also helped bring camouflage to the forefront. Now it seems that camo should be subtle since its intention was to not be seen, but these pieces are more about making a statement that hiding in the woods. If camo clothes seem too much for you but you still want to dip your toe(s) into the trend, we have some great shoes from Marion Parke that are an easy and comfortable step into the look. This trend is not going away either. In fact, it was everywhere on the showroom floors when I went to New York to buy our stock for fall. The military-inspired trend simply took over the footwear scene; there were combat boots in every collection I saw. I am not sure if I am personally ready for combat boots, but on everything else I am totally on board!
