It seems like 2026 is shaping up to be the year of bringing back brands we’ve missed over the past year or two. Last week, we talked about the return of Sea NYC, and now we’re excited to welcome back one of my favorite jewelry lines: Completed Works.

Two things tell me 2025 was an epic year: I took a fraction of the photos I take in a normal year, and the photos I did take blow me away to look back on. It was a year that was so busy there wasn’t always time to stop to document along the way, and the projects and events we worked on were exciting, challenging, and beautiful.

Aside from the frequent commute for school events, I try to stay in the Commonwealth—and more specifically, in Alexandria. When I find great new places, I love to share them. Everyone knows where I get my hair, nails, and facials, but this year I added a few new local favorites to the mix.

When the new year rolls around, I always like to write about a few things that have nothing to do with the store. Let’s be honest—we probably all need a little reset after holiday shopping. This time of year also brings resolutions about being healthier and happier in 2026. That’s part of this post, but only part of it.

As 2025 comes to a close, we are feeling deeply grateful and a little in awe of what this year became. For Eliana Curated, 2025 was defined by momentum, meaning, and moments that reminded us why we do what we do. From major milestones to small heartfelt wins, this past year felt like a true turning point for the brand rooted in storytelling, community, and creativity.

Wolford has been at The Shoe Hive for a long time. I think we even had it on the shelf at the original tiny store at 115 Royal Street. During COVID, we stepped away from the brand a bit—there wasn’t much demand for tights and nylons when no one was leaving their homes. We have slowly brought them back, and this year they’re back in a big way.

Each time we go into the showroom filled with brands we carry, I make a beeline for the tiny Unfortunate Portrait rack. I flip through the shirts and laugh and laugh and laugh. Each shirt is funnier than the next and are guaranteed to put a smile on anyone’s face the moment they read them.

We’re nearing the end of the holiday shopping season, and it’s the perfect time to skip the shipping stress and shop local. With online deadlines closing fast and malls more chaotic than ever, shopping small is simply smarter—and more enjoyable. If that is you, I have a recommendation: stop by the stores of Old Town for Small Business Saturday.

It is hard to believe that this is the 15th year we have done Plaid Friday. I will always know exactly when we started because the year prior, 2009, Danielle of fibre space called me and asked me to participate, along with a handful of other stores. That was the last time I traveled out of town for Thanksgiving.
